Como extraer la ip?

Saludos gente, encontré un código para detectar la ip de los visitantes, el problema es que no sé como aplicarlo de manera que lea las ips que entran a la web.
Quiero que lea la ip y arroje los resultados tal como se ve pero claro sin el ejemplo.
Trae un ejemplo pero ya digo no me sirve, tengo los ojos que me sangran de tanto buscar una solución, a ver si el genio [MENTION=9679]cicklow[/MENTION] sabe.

Intenté con $ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; pero o no me sirve o no sé como aplicarlo

si pensas hacer eso con cada IP, tu server no durara mucho jeje... ya que abririas una coneccion por cada visita, refresco de pagina, etc... pero en fin:

esa funcion hace un whois a la IP para ver de doonde es y demas solo para mostrar la info... si solo quieres mostrar la ip pon
